"Go ye into all the world,
and preach the gospel to every creature."
It has been nearly 24 years since the first time that I walked into a Seventh-Day Adventist Church. This was a major decision for me. I had just spent the better part of 3 years studying the Bible and pouring over 3 different sets of Bible Studies from Amazing Facts and It Is Written. I had come to the conclusion that this church was the Remnant spoken about in the Bible. My mind and heart were compelled, that I was making the right decision.
So here I am standing at the front door of this church. There was something about this Message that stirred my soul. Throughout those 3 years I wrestled with this decision. And now here I am. 24 years! What a journey!
I still feel the same way as when I first stepped foot in that little church in NJ. I still believe with all my heart that Jesus is coming soon. Evangelism, to me it is not just an event. Even the pioneers knew that it was more than that. The pen of inspiration says, "Every true disciple is born into the kingdom of God as a missionary. He who drinks of the living water becomes a fountain of life. The receiver becomes a giver." Desire of Ages, p. 195.
You may be the only face of compassion that a person sees, you may be the only voice of comfort that a person hears, you may be the only hands that a person may have help them, you may be the only heart a person receives compassion from, you may be the only feet that a person may have that will go that extra mile for them. Friends, you may be the only expression of the Character of Christ that a person may experience this side of heaven.
I call it EVANGELIVING.
Evangelism is not just an event; it is a lifestyle. It is the lifestyle of the church and its individual members. How does Jesus Sum Up His Ministry? "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost", Luke 19:10. Jesus, the master soul-winner, placed the kingdom of God first in His own life.
The only visits God can bless are the ones we make. The only literature God can bless is literature we distribute. The only prayers God can bless for souls are prayers we offer. The only Bible Studies God can bless are the ones we give. The only evangelistic seminars God can bless are the ones that we conduct. It is presumptuous to believe we can have a great harvest without adequate effort in sowing the seed of God’s word. In fact, it is in the process of sowing that our own hearts are watered by the Holy Spirit and prepared for the harvest. As we participate with Christ in touching the lives of others with the gospel, the Holy Spirit transforms our own heart making our churches centers of His Healing Grace.
“And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” Revelation 22:17
What an amazing invitation, I hope I will see you this Sabbath so that you can hear the rest of the story! -- God Bless Christopher Camacho
