Don't Go to Ikea Alone

I don’t know if you have the same sense of dread when you walk into Ikea. I am hoping we can get out of the top floor without buying anything. If we can just limit the damage to the lower level, then we are dealing with objects that will fit into the trunk of the car. If you brought the truck, you know it will be an adventure. That adventure only starts at Ikea.

You notice on the side of the box the number 2. Get help!

Let’s be honest here, when don’t we appreciate a little help in our lives? Sure, there are many things we can do alone, but good help sure goes a long way. Think back through your life, and ask yourself, could you have used some help along the way? Maybe some advice, maybe some guidance, maybe some perspective? How many traps we could have avoided in life, how many mistakes we could have prevented, if we just had some extra help?

I believe we are who we are because important people made an impact in our lives. It is people who made a difference. Jesus made a difference.

Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3: 1-3

No one knows it all, Even Jesus had to learn. God placed Joseph and Mary into His life, and He learned lessons that opened Him up to the possibility of being the actual Son of God. We are never done learning are we? We have so much to learn about life. We have so much to learn about God. Heaven excites me because I will never stop learning and growing. I don’t want to stop, I don’t want to stagnate. I am ever curious to see what I can be here on this earth and the life beyond.

There are many things we have to learn, but there are many lessons we have also learned, so God asks us to pass those lessons down. To every parent, friend, and acquaintance there is something for us to learn and to teach. Don’t think that the older is always teaching the younger either. There are many things the unexperienced can teach the experienced. To see with new eyes, to explore paths unseen. There are many things we can teach each other.

We will get to the place we want to go because we took the time to help each other. We are not alone, Jesus is our friend, and with all the other people Jesus has put into our lives, we will get where we want to be.
