Happy Thanksgiving

Updated: Nov 24, 2022

As Thanksgiving Day approaches,

Our blessings we recall;

The things we are most thankful for,

We recollect them all.

You are really special,

In all you say and do.

You've made a difference in our lives;

We're thankful now for you.

By Joanna Fuchs

Thanksgiving is a time that we all appreciate the friends and family we have. And of course a time for thanking our God for everything He does for us. Thanksgiving is a time to share in an experience of joy, laughter, and hopefully good food. Thanksgiving is such a wonderful holiday because it doesn’t come with strings attached. It doesn’t come with fireworks, presents or dressing up. All that Thanksgiving requires is time. Just a couple of people, some food, and time. Time to talk, to share, to catch up. It is the simplest of holidays but the most profound. And in these times simple and profound is hard to find.

During this time I want to personally say thank you to you. Yes. You reading this. My family and I are so thankful for our children, our home, and this great state of Oregon. But one the things that the Reina family is most thankful for is you… Members of Hillsboro Church. We have been blessed beyond belief by the love, patience and peace you have all provided for us. From our family to yours, thank you for the laughs. Thank you for the time you have spent with us. Thank you for the generosity that you have shown us. Thank you for the kindness that you bestowed upon us. We will forever be changed by you, by this church.

Pastor Danny and I share in our thanks and gratefulness of this church. We both love and appreciate you all. We pray for you all and are so humbled to call you our church. We talk all the time about how amazing this church is, and how blessed we are to be pastoring a wonderful church.

Use this Thanksgiving Day to take some time to be present. Be in the moment. In this fallen world, there are not too many moments where we can all pause and share space with the people we love. Use this Thanksgiving Day to be in one accord. Love on your family and friends. Share space with one another and allow the people around you to be themselves. (Even the crazy uncle). May God bless you all on Thanksgiving and may the nap you take after that massive Thanksgiving meal be a glorious one.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Pastor Victor Reina
