There was a lady in church, she was a good helper, but she was rubbing some people the wrong way. Some people had come to me and asked me if I could resolve some of these “issues”. I knew this lady well, and I also knew that this conversation was not going to be an easy one, actually I dreaded it. This person circled in my mind for a week. I prayed, I avoided, I tried to keep busy, but I knew this is something that had to be done. I guess the term, “put on your big boy pants on” comes to mind. “Big boys” do hard things. There are many challenges in life, it could be just a project you have been putting off for months. There comes a time, when you have to just say to yourself, “just get it done”.
“Every work which he began in the service of the house of God in law and in commandment, seeking his God, he did with all his heart and prospered.” 2 Chronicles 31:21
It has been said, nothing worthwhile in life comes easy, creating a church is no less difficult. Sometimes, even the best of us want to lay our swords down and quit. I wonder why life can be so difficult at times, and I have to realize, that I am the difficult one. Life hasn’t changed for thousands of years, it is what it is. As long as there is sin in this world, life is difficult. What God can do, is to take what is hard in this world, and make it beautiful. What weaknesses and challenges we have in our lives, God is able to use them to refine us into beautiful people.
My selfish side wishes life was easy, that we can glide through this world, but I’ve seen that side and it’s not pretty. Getting our work hats on, both literally and figuratively, we have hard work to do.
The harder the work, the more it will test us, it will humble us, it will change us. But in reality if we put in the work, we never fail. Mountains? Gorillas? Scary closets? Let’s have courage my friends, let’s get to work.
