What a confusing time we live in. Left is right, up is down, truth is relative. As a society, we have relegated the Bible as a fable, some might even say it’s just a moral book, but truth? We look for answers, but those are hard to come by. People are being split by ideologies, politics, science, and theology. What do we believe, moreover how can we believe?
“I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me. John 17: 22-23
I will share with you the amazing thing about unity. People can not force it. Governments can not demand it. Schools can not teach it. Churches can not dictate it. Truth comes from God, and that truth goes to each individual seeking for the truth. The final result of God’s truth is that it brings unity. Truth and unity come only from God. When people of God come together in worship and ministry, we know we are aligned with God because His truth is bringing us together.
Ideas and declarations that brings discord with the church family should be challenged. If God is behind an idea or movement, there should be propensity of humility, and an active desire to work together. If God is leading us, we should see it in His people. I find great hope in that in our church, we have many individuals with many different ideas and biases, but our great commission leads us to work together.
Jesus is the Truth, none of us can claim to nothing else but a disciple to the great Teacher. In these confusing times, we must only rely on Jesus as our guide. The Bible is there in front of us, and we can access the Father through prayer any time we desire. We are not left alone to flap our hands in the air in doubt, but God will lead us, everyone one of us. Together, we will get home.
