We Don't Always See Eye to Eye
I have had many disagreements in my life. This is normal, people don’t see the same thing all the time. I have also learned that if you want to change someone’s opinion, it is best to start with an idea you can agree on. People will consider a counter thought, if they can trust you. If the disagreement becomes an argument, there is very little chance that any common ground will be found.
Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses. Proverbs 10:12
There are a myriad of things that divide, but it takes love, patience, and kindness to find a path forward between a divided peoples. We have a penchant desire to be “right”, and because of pride we point fingers at others that disagree with our point of view. The Christian way is indeed a hard way, why? Because we must try. Because we must love others, and do whatever we can to keep the peace, and find union in discord. Disagreements are a part of life, but what happens while we are disagreeing, and what happens after we may have hurt someone’s feelings makes all the difference in the world.
We live in a challenging time, everything around us seems to want to separate us. We must strive even harder to stay connected, to work as “one”. There will be a miracle performed in our church, when the church body can fully reflect the love of God by loving each other. May God bless you on this journey.
