Winter Wonderland

Updated: Mar 8, 2021

Living most of my life in Southern California, I never got to live with falling snow. I got to see snow when I got up to the San Bernardino mountains, but lets just say I don’t ever remember having a white anything when I was young. Love or hate snow, there is still something magical watching that what stuff fall on the ground. God sure knows how to make everything beautiful, even precipitation. Winter can be a gloomy time, all the leaves and flowers are gone, but here comes the white to cover it all up. What was once dreary becomes pristine. All the dirt and fallen leaves all get covered up with a blanket of fluffy stuff. We don’t see the “normal” anymore, we see a coat of white newness.

Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool. Isaiah 1:18

Salvation is the same. All the dirtiness is “covered” up. No, the snow didn’t make all the dirtiness go away, it’s still there. What you can’t see, but what God sees is the wonderful grace of Jesus. What a wonderful message we believe in and a to be shared. Whatever we were and whatever we are, God forgives us. God looks at us like a fresh blanket of snow. We are still the same underneath, but God treats us as His beloved. Let us come together and marvel in the plan of salvation. He has taken account of all of our sinfulness and has now made us “white as snow”. As we enjoy the snow this weekend, let us remember who has saved us from sin, and what a blessing it is to be made new. God Bless.
